By: Bro. Tawan Williamson

On April 8, 2017, Omicron Pi Chapter partnered with Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Keep Texas Beautiful anti-litter campaign, “Don’t Mess with Texas”, to conduct the annual “Trash Off”. The “Don’t Mess with Texas” Trash-Off is a single-day roadway clean-up effort, which started in 1986 and it serves as Texas’s signature event for the Great American Cleanup, the nation’s largest community improvement program. Omicron Pi Chapter is part of the Adopt-A-Highway program in Killeen, Texas and has been part of this annual event since it existence. The Enthusiasm of the brothers of this chapter along with the initiative from some of the young men from the Beautillon Youth Club, resulted in the collection of over 20 bags of trash and debris over a 2-mile stretch along FM 439. The pride in the fact that Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was part of this effort of making this great state beautiful speaks immensely to the principles upon which our great fraternity was founded.
